Job Description

The Director is the Head of the Centre and shall be responsible to the Provost for providing leadership to the Centre and for maintaining and promoting the efficiency and good governance of the Centre in accordance with policies and procedures instituted by the University.

Duties/Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the candidate shall include the following:

• Initiate, develop and lead research activities of the Centre;
• Develop terms of reference and scope of work for studies and research purposes;
• Assist in recruitment, training and management of Centre Staff;
• Develop the institutional, technical and human resources capacity of the Centre in collaboration with stakeholders and partners;
• Disseminate  outputs  of the  development  of  products and stimulate utilization of biodiversity through publications and documentation;
• Strengthen the Centre and partners through institutional and technical assistance;
• Communicate with a range of natural resources public and private sector stakeholders, at different levels;
• Design and execute work-plans, technical meetings, and the compilation of periodic reports, monitoring of key outputs, outcomes and deliverables, and performance monitoring and evaluation;
• Proactively explore potential biodiversity utilization strategies and platforms.

Required Skills or Experience

• MPhil/PhD in Natural Resources Management, or a related discipline, from a recognised University, with experience in fundraising, research and project management.
