Company Profile
Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), a locally registered NGO specializes in helping partners coordinate high quality evaluations of impacts of development projects.
Job Description
Innovations for Poverty Action, on behalf of its Government client, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Project Manager of the Teacher Community Assistant Initiative (TCAI).
The TCAI is a collaboration between Ghana Education Services (GES) and the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) with the assistance of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL: www.povertyactionlab.org) and Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA: www.poverty-action.org) who will be conducting a rigorous impact evaluation of the program.
TCAI’s objective is to improve the quality of education in Ghana by providing teachers in P1-P3 with assistants who will be in charge of teaching the basic skills to the lowest performing students, and will be trained specifically for this purpose.
The Manager will be based in the Ghana Education Service offices in Accra, and report directly to the Director of the Basic Education Division. He/she will be expected to travel at least 30% of their time respectively to oversee the TCAI activities across Ghana.
The Manager will be in charge of developing the TCAI implementation plans, coordinating with the other key stakeholders of the Initiative, overseeing the quality of the implementation, providing supervision across the Districts where the program will take place, and assisting with the full-scale, national implementation of TCAI in 2012, if evidence from impact evaluation warrants.
Contingent on financing, the positions will start at the beginning of March 2010 with a minimum of two years commitment. Salaries will be based on qualifications and experience.
Required Skills or Experience
- Masters' Degree (preferred) in education, economics, public policy, social sciences, or related fields and significant management experience
- Minimum 8 years experience
How To Apply
Please send CV, cover letter and a list of three references (including their email and cell phone contact information) to TCAI@poverty-action.org and write "TCAI Project Manager" in the subject line. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for an interview.
The application deadline for this position is February 19, 2010.
