Job Description

Background
The Feed the Future Ghana Trade and Investment Activity (GTI) aims to catalyze economic growth by enhancing exports, bolstering national GDP, and augmenting household income through targeted interventions in agricultural value chains, trade facilitation, and investment promotion, particularly among small and medium enterprises. A pivotal facet of GTI's mission is to elevate the quality standards of agricultural products, ensuring compliance with international regulations and fostering access to global markets. Timely and accurate data collection, verification, and reporting are crucial to the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team's efforts.
 
The consultant will support GTI in migrating, testing, and certifying an existing Excel and Kobo database to ActivityInfo, a data management platform, and developing a dashboard for effective data visualization and reporting. The assignment aims to enhance data quality, accessibility, and real-time monitoring for informed decision-making.
 
Key Responsibilities and Tasks 

1. Data Migration: Lead in migrating existing data from GTI Excel and Kobo database or other platforms to  ActivityInfo.
  • Data Mapping: Collaborate with GTI MEL to map data fields, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Quality Assurance: Validate the accuracy and completeness of migrated data.
2. Dashboard Development:
  • Design and Configuration: Create customized dashboards (at least five) based on GTI requirements.
  • Visual Representation: Develop visually appealing charts, graphs, and maps to display data.
  • User Access Control: Set up access permissions for different user roles within the dashboard.
  • Data Integration: Integrate data from various sources into the dashboard.
  • Real-Time Monitoring: Ensure that the dashboard reflects real-time data updates.
  • User Training: Train 35 GTI staff on navigating and utilizing the dashboard effectively.
  • Train four GTI MEL and IT team on management of the backend of the ActivityInfo and dashboard.
3. Consultation and Collaboration:
  • Needs Assessment: Understand the GTI’s needs and tailor the dashboard accordingly.
  • Feedback Incorporation: Gather user feedback and make necessary adjustments to improve the dashboard.
4. Documentation and Support:
  • User Manuals: Prepare clear and concise user manuals for dashboard usage (max # pages?).
  • Troubleshooting: Provide technical support to resolve any issues related to the dashboard during the    assignment period.
Deliverables
  • Supported GTI MEL in migrating GTI data from Excel to ActivityInfo.
  • Configured ActivityInfo data management system.
  • Developed interactive dashboard in ActivityInfo.
  • Developed training materials
  • Trained 39 GTI staff.
  • End of Assignment report (max # pages) detailing the development process and recommendations for future enhancements.
Level of Effort
The expected Level of Effort (LOE) of this assignment is 20 days for all tasks. The activity is proposed to take place between June and July 2024 with the commencement and completion dates to be agreed upon between GTI and the consultant.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, or a related field
  • A minimum of 6 years experience in ActivityInfo 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with international development projects or NGOs preferred.
  • Proven experience with ActivityInfo data management and dashboard development.
  • Expertise in data migration and data quality assurance.
  • Strong adult learning and training skills.
  • Familiarity with USAID project requirements and reporting standards.

Location and Reporting

The consultant will liaise with the MEL Director on the assignment. All activities will be conducted in the GTI office in Accra, and progress on deliverables will be reported to the MEL Director.
