Job Description

SNV Netherlands Development Organization as part of its Renewable Energy Program is implementing a 2-year “Improved Fish Smoking Project” along the coastal fishing areas of Ghana and parts of the Volta Basin.

As part of the project implementation, SNV intends to conduct an enumeration survey of fish smoking ovens in the Volta Lake Basin. We are therefore looking for motivated and dedicated individuals who will be engaged for this exercise. Preference will be given to individuals from any of the following Districts along the Volta Lake Basin: Asuogyaman, Fanteakwa, Kwahu South, Afram Plains, Kpando, Biakoye, Jasikan, Nkwanta, South Tongu, South Dayi, Pru, Kintampo, Jaman North, Techiman, Nanumba South/North, Zabzugu-Tatali, Savulugu-Nanton, East Gonja, Saboba-Chereponi and Tamale. Motivated individuals who are not from these districts but express interest and are willing to work in these areas will also be considered.

The Research Assistants will be expected to collect various forms of data pertaining to the fish smoking value chain in selected communities along the Volta Basin.

The assignment duration is 20 working days in the months of May/June 2014

Required Skills or Experience

Suitable candidates must have

At least a 1^st Degree
Field survey/research experience
Have good communication, reporting and writing Skills.
Fluent in English language. Ability to speak the local language of preferred district is a must.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
