Job Description

Do you want to work in an international environment with a focus on developing countries? Do you have a passion to ascertain fraud and credit risk and ensure they are properly managed at the branch level? Then Advans has the position for you! In joining the Risk team as Internal Controller, you will be responsible for reviewing compliance to controls at branches and head office in order to assure management. The position is permanent and based in our Head Office- Accra.

What will your role be?

The role holder will work within the Risk Department and will be responsible for reviewing compliance to controls at branches and head office to provide assurance to management, and ascertain that fraud and credit risk are properly managed at the branch level.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Select samples of clients from the branch loan portfolio according to the approved methodology
  • Confirm that branches have archived the documents in compliance with the policy.
  • Ensure that the documentation requirements of loan files are met.
  • Verify compliance with KYC/CDD procedure.
  • Follow up on clients to ascertain whether malpractices occurred during the loan origination procedure.
  • Ensure portfolio transfer was done in line with the approved standard.
  • Perform desk controls and follow up with branches on the implementation of recommendations from the DQC.
  • Produce a draft report of findings after the mission has been concluded.
  • Take part in an investigation when required.
  • Take part in the e-cash mission and produce a draft report.

OTHER ASSIGNMENTS

  • Ensures the CRA Log file is completed as tasked.
  • Operational reports are sent on time.
  • Key risk indicators are timely collected and file updated.

CHALLENGES

Absence of a working space in the intervening branches

Required Skills or Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree and other professional qualification.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar role
  • Familiarity with operational, financial, and quality assurance procedures and regulations is must.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills – written and spoken.
