Job Description

Through its Immunization Center, JSI seeks to strengthen global, regional and country efforts to improve Routine Immunization systems and increase coverage at scale in a sustainable and equitable way. JSI is a global leader known for its unique focus on strengthening routine immunization as an integral part of the broader health system. JSI works at scale with Ministries of Health and partners to support the multiple interrelated components of the RI system to improve equitable, high coverage through identifying, designing and spreading promising new program approaches to sustainably overcome long-standing challenges.

JSI’s Immunization Center is seeking a Senior Program specialist, Consultant to support the design, implementation, and monitoring of key activities for multiple immunization focused projects funded through Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance and The Task Force for Global Health.

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical assistance for preparedness, implementation, analyses and/or monitoring/evaluation of immunization programs.
  • Serve as a technical expert and key team member for country interventions related to routine immunization and system strengthening, COVID-19 integration, accelerated disease control, and other aspects of quality immunization service delivery and equity approaches.
  • Work closely with the JSI Team to engage with GHS/EPI and the Regional Health Directorate to ensure these key agencies of GHS understand the project concept and approach.
  • Schedule, organize, and conduct district-level introduction and review meetings. This will include an introduction of the project, discuss on-going monitoring of programming and results from baseline/endline, and assess implementation activities, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Contribute to country backstopping teams to ensure technical cohesion and quality in the development and monitoring of the work plan, review and updates to the budget, and review of reports and technical deliverables.
  • Contribute to regular reporting requirements from the donor.
  • Participate in weekly technical meetings of JSI Immunization Center.
  • Document and organise dissemination workshop on project lessons learned in collaboration with EPI.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree in Public Health, Social Work, International Development or an equivalent field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the health or development sectors
  • Experience managing projects funded by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and/or The Task Force for Global Health is highly desirable.
  • Excellent skills and previous experience in designing and facilitating human centred design workshops.
  • Experience with integration of COVID-19 into immunization at sub-national levels in low-resource health contexts.
  • Expertise in community engagement and strategies to ensure programming is community centered.
  • High level of creativity, adaptability, and expertise in delivering technical assistance or consulting services to social entrepreneurs, innovators, and mission-driven international organizations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams, under pressure, demonstrating initiative and flexibility.
  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders from Ministry of Health to partners to frontline health care workers.
  • Professional proficiency in English and any Ghanaian language(s).
  • Exemplary interpersonal communication skills required to interact effectively with end users/participants, as well as senior project leadership and partners.
