Job Description

A bank operations officer's duties encompass a range of tasks, including processing transactions, ensuring compliance, managing operations, and providing customer support, all while adhering to bank policies and procedures. 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Transaction Processing:
    • Processing various customer transactions, including BACs, CHAPS, Direct Debits, Faster Payments, and other internal transfers. 
    • Receiving and paying out cash to customers, ensuring timely and error-free processing. 
    • Handling BACS/DDIC returns and providing follow-up with other banks when necessary. 
  • Customer Service:
    • Assisting customers with inquiries and resolving issues related to their accounts and transactions. 
    • Providing information and guidance on bank products and services. 
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensuring adherence to bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. 
    • Identifying and mitigating operational risks.
    • Performing daily checks and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and prevent errors. 
  • Back-Office Operations:
    • Assisting in back-office operations, including clearing outstanding balances and processing reports. 
    • Handling general administrative tasks, such as security of premises and stationary management. 
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Assisting in teller counter services as needed. 
    • Service ATM/CDM/CDT for cash loading, uploading, and cheque clearing. 
    • Tracking operational costs and maintaining profit margins.
    • Developing and implementing operational procedures.
    • Analyzing performance data and identifying areas for improvement.
    • Maintaining positive client and vendor relationships.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Educational Qualification: Diploma / HND
  • Minimum Experience: At least 2 years’ experience

  • Interpersonal: Have strong interpersonal and networking skills
  • Prioritization: Be able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
