Job Description

The Early Childhood Teacher will be responsible for creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for young children, fostering a positive and nurturing learning environment. This role involves teaching foundational skills, promoting social and emotional development, and preparing children for successful transition into elementary school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement a curriculum that addresses the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of young children.
  • Instruction: Deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons and activities that promote growth in language, literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies.
  • Assessment: Conduct regular assessments to track children's progress and development, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that encourages learning and creativity.
  • Social and Emotional Development: Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes social skills, emotional regulation, and a sense of community.
  • Parental Involvement: Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers about their child's progress, and involve them in the educational process through conferences, newsletters, and events.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with early childhood education best practices, attend training sessions, and pursue continuous professional growth.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration to ensure a cohesive educational experience for all students.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal regulations regarding early childhood education, including health and safety standards.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. State certification or licensure in early childhood education.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with young children in a preschool or childcare setting for at least 1 year.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of child development and early childhood education principles.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with children, parents, and staff.
  • Creativity: Ability to design engaging educational activities and curricula.
  • Patience and Compassion: High level of patience and a caring, nurturing attitude towards children.
  • First Aid and CPR: Certification in pediatric first aid and CPR.
  • Background Check: Clean criminal background check and clearance to work with children.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment: Work primarily in a classroom setting with children aged 3-5.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry children and materials up to 30 pounds, engage in physical activities with children, and maintain a high energy level throughout the day.
  • Hours: Full-time position, typically Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends for events or meetings.
