Job Description

The purpose of the Quantity Surveyor is to estimate and control project cost and also ensuring completed projects are done within its projected budgets. This role is responsible for maximizing project margin and adding value to the construction process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates for all projects.
  • Prepare material, labour and equipment schedule.
  • Prepare cash flow schedule for projects.
  • Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation.
  • Evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors and, where appropriate support to negotiate with the contractors.
  • Maintain an updated material and labour price list in line with market trends.
  • Measure and evaluate work done on site to inform the invoicing process
  • Ensure efficient cost control on all projects including monitoring direct resource usage to avoid wastage.
  • Assist in the procurement of materials for projects.
  • Communicate regularly with project staff and subcontractors to ensure commercial controls are in place, understood and followed at all times.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A minimum of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Building Technology, Quantity Surveying & Construction Economics or related field of study.
  • A minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in similar field
  • An experience in steel structures is an added advantage.
