Job Description

Job Purpose
The incumbent will ensure the accuracy and compliance of financial documentation and contractual terms related to projects including but not limited to construction projects. 
 
This role will focus on auditing project costs and expenditures, verifying that all financial transactions and contractor obligations adhere to the agreed-upon terms including rates. The primary objective is to safeguard the company’s financial interests by preventing discrepancies and ensuring that project costs are transparent and in line with contractual commitments.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
 
Project Audit and Compliance Monitoring
  • Conduct detailed audits on project costs and contractual documents to ensure accuracy and adherence to organizational standards and contractual agreements.
  • Review payment applications, invoices, and claims from contractors to verify their accuracy and consistency with the contractual terms.
Contractual Compliance Verification
  • Monitor compliance with financial clauses of contracts, ensuring that payments and project deliverables align with agreed specifications and budgets.
  • Investigate discrepancies in contractual documents and bills of quantities and recommend corrective actions.
Collaboration and Advisory
  • Advise and provide actionable insights to the project management team based on audit findings to enhance project cost-effectiveness and ensure compliance.
  • Facilitate communication between the internal audit team and project management to ensure a mutual understanding of financial and contractual compliance.
Tendering and Bidding Participation
  • Evaluate the quantities and cost components in tender documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  • Provide expert analysis on the financial and quantity estimates submitted in bids, ensuring they align with standard costing practices and contractual requirements.
  • Perform any other related duties based on the exigencies of the Company as assigned by the manager.

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum qualification (s) 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Engineer, Quantity Surveyor, or Cost Engineer.

Experience (Minimum)

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project budgeting, quantity surveying, cost analysis and reporting, or related work.
  • Experience in handling, reviewing, and analyzing tender documents and project contracts.
  • Experience with project cost management or audit is preferred.

Knowledge (In-depth) 

  • Strong understanding of construction processes, contract law, and project management from a financial perspective.
  • In-depth knowledge of cost forecasting, budget management, and contractual obligations.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software used for quantity surveying, cost estimation, and project management.
  • Familiar with tendering process for projects, especially in reviewing BoQ and Schedule of Fees.

Skills

  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills to accurately interpret contract documents and cost reports.
  • Effective communication, reporting and presentation skills.
  • Accurate analysis and interpretation of complex financial data.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, and skills in project management software a plus.
