Job Description

Opportunity   
As a growing organization, AGROPAL is seeking talents to complement its existing team with its mission of empowering every actor in the agricultural value chain. Therefore, AGROPAL is seeking to hire a suitable candidate to fill the role of a Production Manager. Applicants must note that the opportunity requires flexibility based on factory production schedules.   
  
Duties and Responsibilities  
The hired candidate will be responsible for the following:   
  • Plan and organize production schedules. 
  • Monitor production activities and adjust schedules for on-time delivery. 
  • Ensure that final product meets quality standards and customer specifications. 4. Determining quality control standards. 
  • Estimate costs and prepare budgets. 
  • Analyse budgets and continuously control production costs and identify/rectify waste measures. 
  • Decide on and order the resources that are required and ensure stock levels remain adequate. 
  • Organising the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment. 
  • Manage and support Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) management initiatives and objectives. 
  • Evaluate and ensure compliance with manufacturing plant’s safety procedures and standards. 
  • Handle logistics, warehousing and stock of raw materials used in production. 
  • Co-manage all teams within production department (contracts/leave/pay) 13. Suggest process improvements to enhance production quality and capacity. 14. Review worker performance and identify training needs. 
  • Investigate production issues and develop resolutions. 
  • Recommend cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality standards. 
  • Any other applicable duty assigned to you by your superiors.  

Required Skills or Experience

Qualification Required & Experience  
Academic and career:  
  • At least a bachelors in Food Science, Food Processing or related field. 
  • At least seven (7) years of working experience in the food processing sector.  
  • At least 5 years working in the dried fruits sector (candidates without this experience will automatically be disqualified). *** 
  • The candidate must have experience with the following fruits- mango, pineapple, bananas, coconut, and papaya. (Candidates without this experience will automatically be disqualified). *** 
  • The candidate must have verifiable experience and training in food processing standards- specifically, HACCP, BRCGS, and IFS (candidates without this experience will automatically be disqualified). *** 
  • The candidate must have technical experience in the operation of dryers and boilers. 
  • The candidate must embody an entrepreneurial spirit and experience in building sustainable entities.  
Other critical skills:  
  • Good leadership and management skills.   
  • Proven track record in food processing and stock management.    
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget.  
  • Strategic leader with the ability to manage and effectively motivate large teams.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills; a team player and independent worker.  
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to deliver direction and motivation in an effective manner at all levels.  
  • Ability to pragmatically solve problems, plan a course of action using analytical, conceptual, strategic, and forward-thinking abilities to achieve effective results. 
  • Ability to recognize, react and adjust to rapidly changing conditions and to lead the resources in appropriate direction with cohesiveness and a sense of urgency. 
  • Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task.  
  • Excellent planning, analytical, and organizational skills.  
  • Candidate should demonstrate integrity and accountability.  
  • Strong adaptability and ability to work with little or no supervision. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications.
