Company Profile EduSpots is an innovative, dynamic, and locally driven UK and Ghanaian registered charity which connects, trains, and equips voluntary community educators to create transformative literacy and STEM opportunities through education spaces named ‘Spots’, with a focus on female empowerment and environmental action. Together, we are creating a movement of community-based changemakers. Since 2016, through collaborating extensively with over 250 local volunteers, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’, with a strategy to support them in moving towards our ‘Dream Spot Model’. We are developing a model for a community-led education space with accompanying network engagement that could have applications across the world. Our 16-strong but entirely part-time and remote working Ghanaian team creates collaborative learning opportunities through our Ignite and Community Leadership in Development (CLEd) Programmes which include training to lead our EduLit, EduSTEM, EduKidz and Ignite Girls clubs, alongside locally designed education projects, reaching over 15,000 students of all ages annually. Read our 2022 Impact Report here. We are in an exciting period of our development. We won the Tes International Award in 2018 and the Big Give Supporters’ Choice Award in 2022, and we were recently selected as a finalist for the Their World Scale-Up Innovation Prize. In 2021, our Founder was a Finalist in The Varkey Foundation’s $1 million Global Teacher Prize, supported by UNESCO, partly for her role in developing EduSpots. We are excited by our future. Job Description We are looking for 3 dynamic, committed and organised regional coordinators to oversee clusters of Spots in the Volta, Central/Western and Northern regions of Ghana as we expand our team at this exciting point in our development. Title: Regional Coordinator Location: Remote Reports to: Head of Programmes Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Hours: Full-time Applications close: 9th August Summary EduSpots is an innovative, dynamic, and community-driven UK and Ghanaian registered charity which connects, trains, and equips voluntary community educators to drive community-led change through education spaces named ‘Spots’. Our vision is of our world where communities unite to create the futures they want to see, through education. Since 2016, through collaborating with over 300 local volunteers, who take a central leadership role in the development of the network, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’’. Together, we are developing a model for a community-led education space with accompanying network engagement that could have global relevance. Read our model of change document here. Our Ghanaian-based team creates collaborative learning opportunities through three leadership programmes for volunteers: the Ignite, Catalyse and Inspire Mentoring Programmes. These enable the Catalysts to lead DigLit, EduSTEM, EduKidz and Ignite Equity clubs, alongside locally designed education projects, reaching over 10,000 students of all ages annually. Read our 2023 Impact Report here. We are in an exciting period of our development, having more than doubled our income, programme breadth and reach in the last year. We have been recently selected for two accelerator programmes, who are supporting us as we consider the scaling potential of our model. EduSpots has a strong commitment to the professional development of all staff and Catalysts, and the promotion of a positive working culture with well-being at its heart. We won the Tes International Award in 2018 and the Big Give Supporters’ Choice Award in 2022, and we were recently selected as a finalist for the Their World Scale-Up Innovation Prize. In 2021, our Founder was a Finalist in UNESCO-backed The Varkey Foundation’s $1 million Global Teacher Prize. We are excited by our future. Do visit www.eduspots.org for further information. About this role In this highly rewarding and pivotal organisational role, the coordinators’ mentorship and systems support will enable their cluster of community based voluntary ‘Catalysts’ to create the futures that they want to see for their communities through a range of education activities and programmes. This will lead to impact at significant scale, driven by the community members themselves. Candidates will be natural relationship builders, understanding that placing humanity, humour and genuine care at the centre of their approach with volunteers, will enable them to foster a lifelong passion for EduSpots’ vision alongside developing the confidence and capabilities of their cluster of community-based Catalysts. They will have excellent operational and organisational skills, equally able to lead communities through in-person engagements and events, as they will be at collecting, analysing and responding to large quantities of data. We are looking for candidates with experience of working in a rural community setting, with confidence across IT, finance and operations, with experience of working in a fast-paced, dynamic, online working environment. Experience in education as a teacher or an education programme coordinator may be an advantage for this role, but is not necessary, with significant training given to ensure the effective delivery of the needed outcomes for the organisation.
