Job Summary
The Operations Manager for the Rapid React Team (RRT) is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of time-sensitive deployments of systems, personnel, and equipment in response to client calls. This OM will ensure that deployment operations run efficiently, effectively, and on schedule, while meeting safety, quality, and performance standards. The role demands strong leadership, logistical expertise, and the ability to manage complex operations in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
Key Responsibilities
Deployment Planning and Execution
- Oversee and manage the end-to-end deployment process, ensuring all personnel, systems, and resources are prepared for rapid mobilization / deployment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop deployment strategies and contingency plans.
- Coordinate the readiness and mobilization of equipment and ensure compliance with operational timelines.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure that deployments meet all safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
Team Leadership and Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage deployment teams, ensuring personnel are adequately trained, briefed, and equipped for rapid deployment operations.
- Monitor staff performance during deployment operations and ensure adherence to established standards and protocols.
- Ensure efficient communication and coordination between team members, ensuring operational issues are promptly addressed.
- Develop a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork within the react unit.
Resource and Asset Management
- Maintain oversight of all resources and assets needed for react deployments, including vehicles, equipment, and systems.
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained, tested, and ready for deployment on short notice.
Manage procurement and logistics and their timely delivery for all operations.
- Monitor budgetary constraints, optimize resource allocation, and ensure cost-effective deployment solutions.
Operational Efficiency and Process Improvement
- Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of deployment processes and implement operational improvements.
- Develop and refine operational procedures and best practices to increase deployment speed and efficiency.
- Track key performance metrics (KPIs) related to deployment success, cost, and operational readiness.
- Organise post-deployment debriefs and process reviews and ensure lessons learned are used to improve future operations.
Crisis and Incident Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact during operations, overseeing crisis management and incident response.
- Develop and maintain contingency plans and protocols to handle unforeseen challenges or emergencies during deployment.
- Ensure proper reporting and communication to senior management and relevant stakeholders in the event of disruptions.
Compliance and Safety Management
- Ensure that all deployment operations comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and industry standards.
- Implement safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits, training, and drills.
- Liaise with compliance officers to address any operational non-compliance and proactively resolve issues.
Required Skills or Experience
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Operations Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications in Security operations or logistics management is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in operations management, logistics, or rapid deployment operations, with a track record of managing high-stakes projects.
- Strong understanding of logistics, supply chain management, and resource allocation.
- Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams and complex operations under time-sensitive conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with risk assessment, crisis management, and safety protocols
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)) and any logistics software.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills for managing both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to get to locations on short notice for operational actions when required.
