Job Summary
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Warehouse Assistant to join our team. As a Warehouse Assistant, you will be responsible for efficiently managing inventory, organizing the warehouse, and ensuring accurate and timely shipments of laboratory products. Your role will involve receiving, inspecting, and storing incoming products, as well as preparing orders for shipment. Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments of laboratory products, verifying the accuracy of quantities and product quality.
- Organize and maintain the warehouse, ensuring efficient space utilization and safe storage of inventory.
- Accurately record and update inventory levels using the company's inventory management system or software.
- Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment, ensuring that the correct products and quantities are included.
- Coordinate with the sales team and logistics partners to schedule and prioritize order shipments.
- Ensure proper packaging, labelling, and documentation for outgoing shipments to meet customer requirements and comply with shipping regulations.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory checks to reconcile inventory discrepancies and maintain accurate stock levels.
- Monitor inventory expiry dates and coordinate with the appropriate teams to manage stock rotation and prevent product obsolescence.
- Collaborate with the purchasing team to coordinate the return of defective or damaged products and process related documentation.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of all warehouse activities, including receiving, shipping, and inventory adjustments.
- Operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, safely and according to company policies and procedures.
- Adhere to proper safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist with special projects, including warehouse layout optimization, process improvement initiatives, and inventory audits.
- Identify and report any warehouse-related issues or concerns to the Warehouse Supervisor or Manager.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve warehouse processes, efficiency, and productivity.
Required Skills or Experience
- HND or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in warehouse operations or a related field, preferably within the laboratory equipment or scientific industry.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems and inventory control practices.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects and operate warehouse equipment.
- Knowledge of proper handling and storage of delicate or sensitive laboratory products.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in using inventory management software or systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, with a commitment to maintaining a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and willingness to adhere to established safety guidelines.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or extended hours, if necessary.
- Experience in operating forklifts or other warehouse equipment is a plus.
- Knowledge of basic scientific equipment terminology is an advantage.
- Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
