Job Description

Job Overview
As a Kitchen/Cook Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the culinary operations of the kitchen. This entry-level position involves a variety of tasks, including food preparation, cooking assistance, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of experienced chefs or kitchen managers to contribute to the efficient and smooth functioning of the kitchen.

Responsibilities
1. Food Preparation

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking, such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and measuring ingredients.
  • Follow recipes and guidelines provided by chefs for consistency in food preparation.

2. Cooking Assistance

  • Support chefs during cooking processes, including grilling, baking, frying, and other cooking methods.
  • Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food quality and safety.

3. Cleaning and Sanitization

  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen by washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
  • Clean kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas regularly to meet hygiene standards.

4. Stock Management

  • Assist in receiving, unpacking, and storing deliveries of food and kitchen supplies.
  • Keep track of inventory levels and notify the kitchen manager when supplies need to be replenished.

5. Adherence to Safety Standards

  • Adhere to safety and sanitation protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and maintain food quality.

6. Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Communicate effectively with chefs and other team members to coordinate tasks.

7. Assistance in Menu Development

  • Provide input and assistance in the development of new dishes or menu items.
  • Suggest improvements or modifications to existing recipes.

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from more experienced kitchen staff.
  • Age range – 22 – 28 years

Location: Should residence in ofankor/ Tantara hills and its environs.
