Job Description
Purpose
Assists in overseeing the implementation of VisionFund Ghana (VFG) Risk Management framework while ensuring strict compliance with regulatory requirements, internal standards, policies and procedures. The role is to ensure that VFG has internal controls that adequately measure and manage current and future risk.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed by all branches.
- Conduct internal investigation of compliance issues.
- Assist in the assessment of product, compliance, or operational risks and develop risk management strategies for all branches.
- Report violations of compliance or regulatory standards to the Risk and compliance manager for appropriate action.
- Assist in planning, designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the organization;
- Risk assessment, which involves analyzing risks as well as identifying, describing and estimating the top ten (10) risks affecting branches.
- Risk evaluation, which involves comparing estimated risks with criteria established by the organization such as costs, legal requirements and environmental factors, and evaluating the organization’s previous handling of risks;
- Maintain a Risk register for all branches.
- Prepare periodic reports on the management of Assets and Liabilities of branches to (ALCO).
- Assist in Implementing the Disaster Risk Plan (DRP)
- Compile periodic reports to the Risk and Compliance Manager
- Any other duties assigned by management.
Required Skills or Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, Social Science or related field
- Must have good analytical skills
- Must be willing and able to work effectively under pressure and be goal oriented.
- Must be able to work within timelines.
- Must be a team player who believes in teamwork and be able to relate well with people from
- diverse backgrounds.
- Must have a good knowledge in microfinance methodologies, products and services.
- Must be innovative, self-motivated and dynamic.
- Must be a practicing Christian.
