Opportunity
As a growing organization, AGROPAL is seeking talents to complement its existing team with its mission of empowering every actor in the agricultural value chain. Therefore, AGROPAL is seeking to hire a Health, Safety and Environmental Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
The hired candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Design a program and policies that aligns with OSHA requirements in order to reduce accidents and other injuries that are related to work.
- Lead and promote adherence to all health and safety guidelines in the factory.
- Monitor and report safety program: evaluate incidents that may occur at the workplace and plan any preventive measures.
- Control activities, delivery and development of the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental functions.
- Implement policies, procedures and systems to provide for a safe work environment and factory operations.
- Maintain up-to-date information and knowledge on new developments in the area of Health, Safety and Environment, relevant to our operation.
- Design and maintain records regarding compliance to health, safety and environmental plan.
- Inspection of facility to detect existing or potential accident and health or safety hazards, determine corrective and preventive measures, and their implementations.
- Conduct HSE induction for new employees, visitors and contractors on site.
- Conduct Job safety analysis for any new tasks or activity at the factory.
- Prepares health and safety briefings on the basis of changes in safety procedures, plans or new development in HSE standards or regulations.
- Carryout hazard identification and risk evaluation for tasks performed at the factory.
- Control of the factory’s emergency preparedness plan.
- Carry out effluent monitoring and boiler stack emissions monitoring to conform to EPA requirements.
- Control of the factory’s waste management program.
- Lead and implement annual emergency preparedness drill.
- Liaison: Ghana National Fire Service and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Required Skills or Experience
Qualification Required & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree/ HND or Diploma in Health, Safety and Environment or a related field. Work experience may be substituted for HND or the diploma requirement.
- At least two (2) years of professional or sector/industry HSE experience.
- Flexibility based on factory production schedule.
- Trained first aider.
- Trained fire-fighter.
- Knowledge of the use of measuring equipment.
- Knowledge of EPA regulations.
- Excellent planning, analytical and organisational skills
- Ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications.
- Integrity and accountability
- Fluency in English – excellent communications skills, both oral and written
- Applicants must be living around the factory location or be willing to relocate to Akuse (Eastern Region)
Work Location
- Onsite at AGROPAL West Africa Limited, Akuse, Eastern Region.
