Job Description

Recruitment of ASBC team
The USAID’s Accelerating Social and Behavior Change Activity (ASBC) is a five-year $26.1million project which continues USAID’s long investment in the Ghana Health Service (GHS). It will enable Ghana’s Health Promotion Division (HPD) to achieve its Strategic Objective to “lead SBC efforts using tested mass media and community engagement tools,” and to “magnify Communicate for Health learnings” whereby target populations (women of reproductive age, newborns, children <5, adolescents/youth <25) “sustainably adopt healthy behaviors and practices, including timely use of health services and products” (ASBC Goal) nationally and in 17 districts in Northern Ghana – where the most severe health disparities persist. ASBC activities are designed to promote sustainability – of a capacitated HPD (Result 1), of health-seeking behavior change and impact at individual and community levels (Result 2), and of private enterprise and CSO support for the public health agenda (Result 3). Norsaac is responsible for result 2 and shall sub grant to other CSOs to deliver on the result. The program is recruiting experienced staff to occupy the positions of; ASBC Project Officers

ASBC Project Officers
Shall be responsible for day-to-day direct engagement with district and community-level project beneficiaries. They will be stationed in the project districts and will have direct contact with HPD, District Health Management Teams (DHMT), local district and municipal government and community health management teams (CHMT) and community beneficiaries and facilitate all community activities. They will work very closely with the district-level GHS/HPDs to ensure proper project delivery. They shall serve as local structures’ capacity building points and gradually transfer skills to community health management teams. They will report directly to the Community Engagement Specialist. This position shall be based in the project districts in the Western Region of Ghana.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Must possess at least a first degree or its equivalent and a minimum of three (3) years working experience in a similar position
  • Demonstrable experience in working with state agencies and communities for change
  • Knowledge of appropriate software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
  • Good reporting and documentation skills
  • Must exhibit high professionalism and good verbal communication
