Job Description

  • Location: Cardinal Namdini Site, Bolgatanga, Upper East
  • Section/ Unit: Project Engineering & Construction

  • Job reports to: Superintendent - Asset Management 
  • Direct Reports: Maintenance Planners, Technicians
Job Purpose
The incumbent will be responsible for the upkeep of the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring that all preventive and breakdown maintenance is carried out in a timely and cost-effective manner.
 
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare a rolling six-monthly forecast of major component changeouts according to the equipment maintenance strategies. 
  • Continually review the work order history to optimize component change-out intervals and eliminate recurring defects.
  • Ensure all components and parts are on-site four weeks prior to the scheduled component change-out date 
  • Keep classified plant records up to date and ensure that all work assigned is completed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Monitor, check and liaise with workshop personnel (both in-house & contractor workshops) to ensure that maintenance works are carried out as planned and scheduled.
  • Enforce and maintain Company Code of Conduct and compliance with Company Standards, procedures, rules and guidelines
  • Actively coach and mentor planners to improve overall skill base and annual leave relief capabilities, inclusive of resource succession planning Requirements
  • Ensure that all bills of materials specified for each asset as well as specialized tools required to implementation of all the maintenance strategies for each asset.
  • Capture assets' whole life cycle costing and ensure that the Asset Management Plans and information meet best practices. 
  • Provide accurate technical advice related to all asset management programmers and Support effective project outcomes. 
  • Performs any other related duties based on the exigencies of the Company as assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum qualification (s)
  • HND or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minerals Commission Sectional Engineer Certificate of Competency. 
  • Member of the Ghana Institute of Engineering (GhIE).
Experience (Minimum)
  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in structural, mechanical, plate works and piping activities in a mining or related environment with at least 5 years in senior supervisory.
  • Demonstrated previous adherence and maximum commitment to following safety protocols and promoting workplace safety. 
Knowledge (In-depth)
  • Excellent working knowledge and application of engineering design and principles.
  • Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel, PowerPoint) and database management.
  • Must possess good project management skills.
  • Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving license and the ability to drive in rough terrain.

  • Ability to apply knowledge of standards, methods, and procedures to work situations.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret designs and blueprints for electrical projects.
  • Must demonstrate well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with people at different levels of leadership and of diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Must be declared medically fit for the position and working environment
