Job Description

  • Duty Station : Central & Ashanti Regions
PURPOSE
The Area Accounts Manager will review all bills, vouchers and other supporting documents of outlets (branches and service points) in the area to ensure they are in line with BRAC procurement and finance policies and guidelines
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review all bills, certificates, vouchers and supporting documents of outlets in the area and ensure they follow BRAC’s procurement and finance guidelines.
  • Ensure effective payments of statutory deductions of the area, and to ensure the same are captured correctly in the accounting system. 
  • Maintain Fixed Asset Register for the Area Office and ensure same is maintained in service points/branches by Accounts Officers. 
  • Ensure appropriate entries are made in the accounting system for all Fixed Asset acquisitions, transfers, depreciation, and disposals. 
  • To provide required financial support for Accounts Officers of service points/branches and escalate issues to the regional office if need be.
  • Set objectives and KPIs for Accounts Officers in the area and appraise them based on actual performance.
  • Provide training and mentorship to Accounts Officers of service points/branches within the Area.
  • To liaison with the internal and external auditors and provide necessary support to them by providing the bill vouchers, registers, reports etc. as required by the auditors.
  • Manage the treasury function of service points/branches in the Area and ensure the availability of funds for operational activities.
  • Perform all finance related tasks of the Area Office.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and tax laws for the Area Office and service points/branches in the area.
  • Prepare financial reports for the area for monthly performance review.
  • Ensure daily and month-end cash counts are conducted for all service points/branches in the area.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential. 
  • Any other duty assigned by a superior.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
  • Establish a safeguarding culture across all levels of the programme by implementing the safeguarding policy. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Responsible to ensure team members are appropriately trained, supported and have access to resources regarding issues that are identified and actioned in accordance with the safeguarding policy and procedure.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.

Required Skills or Experience

EXPERIENCE (Including sector/industry)
  • A minimum of first degree or its equivalent in Accounting or similar discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting in the financial services industry.
  • Proficient in the use of MS 365 Office, and T24 software
  • Previous experience as an Area Accountant and a Chartered Accountant will be an added advantage.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Knowledge and competency in accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in management systems.
  • Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal abilities.
  • Good team player with excellent leadership traits.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and other accounting softwares.
  • Planning and organization skills.
  • High degree of professionalism, maturity and confidentiality.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Well organized and ability to act in a professional and ethical manner;
  • Capability and willingness to take responsibility
  • Highly developed sense of integrity, reliability and accuracy
  • Willingness to work under pressure.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
  • Degree in Accounting/Banking and Finance/Related Disciplines
  • Professional Certificate/Postgraduate Degree in Accounting/Finance will be an added advantage.
  • Concentration / Major: Finance, Accounting
