Project HOPE is legally registered to operate in Ghana (registration number ET001021222) since December 2022 to conduct and support programs and activities aimed at solving some of the world’s greatest public health challenges, with a specific focus on enabling health workers to have the greatest possible impact on the health of the people they serve, strengthening and improving health systems, providing disaster and humanitarian relief and fostering and promoting health policy research and thought leadership.

Job Description

  • LOCATION:  Tamale, Wa, Bolgatanga, Sekondi Takoradi, Damongo (note that Project HOPE will not be covering relocation expenses)

BACKGROUND ON Ghana IHP
The purpose of the USAID-funded Ghana Integrated Health Partnership (IHP) activity to strategically contribute to the Government of Ghana’s strategies to reduce preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths, including stillbirths, and improve their overall health and well-being by 2030. Activities are expected to advance Ghana toward increased localization, strengthening the capacity of Ghana institutions and local organizations to introduce, deliver, scale-up, and sustain the use of evidence-based, quality MNCH, voluntary family planning, malaria, and global health security services. The project will increase access, utilization and quality of maternal and child health, family planning, malaria, and nutrition services to reduce preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths in northern Ghana.
 
POSITION SUMMARY
Project HOPE seeks Clinical Mentors with knowledge and skills in clinical and public health interventions to support the implementation of on-site health facility mentorship, coaching, skills observation and supportive supervision components of the IHP activity, with particular focus on integrating RMNCAH, nutrition and malaria service delivery. The incumbent must have expertise on current standards, guidelines, and protocols and their use in mentoring and coaching at the facility level.
 
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with, and provide mentorship, coaching and supportive supervision to assigned mentees
  • Guide mentees in the correct use of guidelines and protocols to deliver RMNCAH, Nutrition and malaria interventions 
  • Provide on-site and virtual coaching and technical assistance to mentees
  • Share expertise and experience in integrated service delivery with mentees.
  • Model professional behavior in carrying out duties
  • Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably assigned by the supervisor

Required Skills or Experience

SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Must be a healthcare provider, preferably an experienced Doctor, Physician Assistant, Midwife, RGN or RCN in good standing with their regulatory bodies (Nursing and midwifery Council or Medical and Dental Council) and have clinical care and public health programming experience.
  • At least 3 years' experience in mentorship, coaching and supervisory position
  • Willingness to mentor through on-site and virtual support
  • Familiarity with, and ability to use clinical standards, guidelines and protocols to teach and assess technical skills
  • Clinical proficiency and capacity to make decisions
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with mentees, including provision of constructive, timely and interactive feedback.
  • Fluency in English.

Physical demands:

  • Project HOPE employees work in the global health field and may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as “hardship”.
