Job Description

Position Summary
As a growing organization, AGROPAL is seeking talents to complement its existing team with its mission of empowering every actor in the agricultural value chain. Therefore, AGROPAL is seeking to hire a suitable candidate to fill the role of a Production Supervisor. He/she will support the Production Manager to manage day-to-day operations of the production department, implementing new production standards, monitoring and investigating production or quality issues. Applicants must note that the opportunity requires flexibility based on factory production schedules.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance to quality policy, procedures, work instructions, documented quality and food safety systems, as well as compliance to statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure resources and inputs needed for work are readily available. 
  • Ensure daily departmental targets are met and on time.
  • Ensure raw material received for processing are in their right quality and quantity.
  • Ensure raw fruits delivered are stored properly in their demarcated areas.
  • Monitor stock utilizing first-in, first-out (FIFO) or last-in, first-out (LIFO) to prevent fruit spoilage. 
  • Fulfil housekeeping and hygiene standards. 
  • Ensure prompt start of daily work in each department.
  • Train and coach workers and review their performance.
  • Implement disciplinary procedure at work stations.
  • Meet dried products specification.
  • Initiate and coordinate inventory of finished goods warehouse.
  • Report immediately any breakage, damage or malfunction of equipment to the Production Manager.
  • Manage and maintain all production tools and equipment in the factory.
  • Ensure effective cleaning of all production equipment, dryers and the factory premises.
  • Ensure proper and prompt filing of records: maintain records organized and accessible for analysis and reference.
  • Ensure correct traceability of products and records.
  • Support process improvements throughout the production processes.
  • Supervise production staff and their job results by counseling and disciplining employees; and planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines in the factory. 
  • Contribute to the promotion of food safety and quality culture.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualification, Experience and Experience
  • An HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Processing, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role within food processing, agriculture, or FMCG sectors. 
  • Experience in dry fruits processing or similar industry is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the dry fruits processing steps including drying, sorting, packaging, and storage.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, food safety standards i.e., HACCP, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with production scheduling, team management, and inventory control.
  • Familiarity with production equipment used in food processing and packaging.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
