Job Description

A progressive life insurance company has an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and committed insurance professionals to join our dynamic growing team to handle the following role: Head, Corporate Business.

Job Purpose
The Head, Corporate Business is responsible for providing strategic leadership, in his/her area of operations and control, by working with the Chief Distribution Officer and the Executive Management team to establish long term goals and sales penetration plans.
 
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage the entire unit to achieve sales and financial targets:
  • Submit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to the Chief Distribution Officer
  • Manage the performance of Corporate Sales Officers by creating a performance loop which effectively assesses day to day performance of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) against company objectives
  • Periodic meetings with Corporate Sales Officers to identify performance challenges, whiles also looking at recovery strategies
2. Improve the quality of overall management of the unit:
  • Effective management of administrative functions
  • Liaise with the Chief Distribution Officer for technical and logistics support for the unit
  • Customer service delivery through efficient supervision of staff and strict adherence to values
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Stakeholders across the business (brokers, shareholders, staff and customers) 
  • Organize meetings and training sessions for staff
3. Drive quality and profitable growth of the unit
  • Co-ordinate prospecting and presentations on corporate products 
  • Develop strategies for mapping out territories & ensuring effective penetration of the market
  • Set targets for direct reports and ensure prompt collection of premiums
  • Ensure that back office and sales staff meet all deadlines agreed in their Service Level Agreements
  • Aspire to generate income that exceeds the running cost of the unit 

Required Skills or Experience

Qualification & Experience
  • A minimum of a first degree in social sciences or related field from a recognised tertiary institution 
  • A minimum of 6 – 8 years relevant experience
  • A diploma in insurance certification will be of added advantage

  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Ability to accurately present reports.
  • Excellent product knowledge and marketing skills.
  • Experience in, and sound knowledge of, the Life Insurance industry.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Strategic Thinking Ability
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct and coordinate direct reports to attain set targets.
