The Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NRA) is an independent regulatory body established by the NRA Act, 2015 (Act 895) and began operations in January 2016. The NRA has a statutory responsibility for regulating civilian use of nuclear and other radioactive materials and is preparing itself to regulate Ghana’s nuclear power programme.  

 

Job Description

The NRA is seeking to recruit to fill various positions in its organisational structure.  The NRA hereby invites qualified Ghanaians to apply for any of the positions listed below.

A Process Engineer for a nuclear regulatory body reviews process designs and operations by optimizing nuclear processes and systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations of nuclear power plants, research reactors, and other nuclear facilities.

Key required tasks are:  

  • Review the design of nuclear processes and systems including design specifications (e.g., reactor coolant, fuel handling) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and international standards (e.g., ASME codes).
  • Oversee the safe operation of nuclear processes by evaluating performance and efficiency through analysis, inspections and risk assessments.

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum Education

  • Master's degree in Nuclear or Chemical Engineering or related field.  Bachelors degree with significant experience in industrial piping systems design and welding could be considered. 

Certifications & Knowledge

  • Good understanding of nuclear processes, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and software like ASPEN Plus, RELAP5, etc. will be an advantage. 

Experience

  • Minimum 2 - 5-years of experience in process engineering with focus on industrial plants (power plants preferred).  Nuclear knowledge would be an advantage.
