- REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: The General Manager
JOB PURPOSE
- To oversee the entire production process ensuring that manufacturing operations run efficiently, meet quality standards, and align with company objectives.
DUTIES
Production Planning and Coordination:
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate with sales, procurement, and logistics teams to align production plans with business requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, tools, and finished products to prevent shortages or overstocking.
Process Optimization and Efficiency:
- Analyze production workflows and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and other methodologies to maximize productivity.
- Monitor and ensure the efficient use of equipment, resources, and manpower.
Quality Assurance:
- Establish and enforce quality control standards to ensure products meet customer specifications and industry standards.
- Address production issues, such as defects or inconsistencies, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to maintain certifications and compliance.
Team Management and Leadership:
- Supervise and manage production staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
- Ensure clear communication between production teams and other departments.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Enforce workplace safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to mitigate risks.
- Maintain compliance with industry regulations and environmental standards.
Equipment Maintenance and Upgrades:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of production equipment to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule preventive maintenance and equipment upgrades.
- Assess and recommend investments in new technology or machinery to improve production capabilities.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and present production reports, including efficiency metrics, output, and waste analysis.
- Maintain accurate documentation of production activities, incidents, and quality control measures.
- Provide updates to senior management on production performance and challenges.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:
- Address production bottlenecks and resolve operational challenges promptly.
- Make informed decisions regarding resource allocation, scheduling adjustments, and process changes.

- Primarily plant-based with frequent interaction with production lines and office staff.

Required Skills or Experience
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree / HND in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in production management, preferably in a glass processing or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and quality control standards.
- Proficiency in using any production management software.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to lead diverse teams.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies (advantageous).
