Company Profile

  1. Must possess a minimum of BSc. in Mining Engineering from a recognized University with minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in a Hard Rock Underground Mines
  2. Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes) and able to drive manual SUV underground.
  3. Must possess Blasting Certificate and Mine Rescue Certificate.
  4. Proven experience in Ventsim Software/ VUMA Software.
  5. Ability to influence and engage with operational and non-operational employees and contractors with strong demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Must be conversant with the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana
  7. Proven experience in Mine Planning Software preferably Surpac.
  8. Ability to learn new tasks quickly as well as train, coach, and mentor crew members.
  9. Strong sense of urgency and outcomes focused
  10. Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
  11. Ability to work both day and night.
  12. Develop and manage the detailed work schedules for electrical maintenance activities, ensuring they are aligned with the mining production schedule and operational priorities.

Job Description

UMA is seeking to employ qualified, experienced, and motivated Rock Breaker Operator

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate rock-breaking equipment.
  • Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections on equipment to ensure safe and efficient.
  • Inspect work area before and after use of equipment to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Ensure all daily checklists and reports are completed accurately and timely.
  • Responsible for housekeeping surrounding work area and dust control.
  • Ensure routine maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Follow safety protocols and regulations to prevent incident and accidents.
  • Communicate with team members to coordinate tasks and ensure productivity.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and minimize damage to surrounding areas.
  • Record and report any issue or incident to management for resolution.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Recognized Electrical Trade Certificate through a recognized apprenticeship or institution or Minerals Commission (MINCOM) Certification
  • A minimum of two (2) years progressively responsible experience in a similar role, preferably in a gold mining environment.
  • Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes) and able to drive manual SUV.
  • Must be able to operate and have experience in operating rock breaking equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to rock breaking
  • Flexibility and willingness to assist with varied tasks and responsibilities.
  • Willingness to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
  • Must demonstrate strong work ethics and be able to communicate courteously with co-workers.
  • Hazard identification and risk assessment knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and have the desire to learn and achieve.
  • Ability to workday and night rotation
  • Good verbal and written communication in English.
