Job Description

A vacancy exists in our Mining Department for the position of: MINE PLANNING ENGINEER

 

JOB PURPOSE
The incumbent will be responsible for delivering short to medium term mine plans in line with long-term plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare Mine design, production plans and monitor the implementation thereof.
  • Deliver short to medium term mine production and assists in development of budget.
  • Develop weekly and monthly production schedules to ensure that ore bodies are mined in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly mining cost forecast.
  • Monitor weekly and monthly mining cost.
  • Monitor, analyze and advise on daily, weekly, monthly, and annual mine production and equipment performance.
  • Prepare Drill and Blast schedules, taking into consideration final pit designs, geotechnical recommendations, and production requirements.
  • Review and critique planning assumptions and suggest alternatives solutions to develop robust mine plans.
  • Deliver a good ore blend crusher feed plan in line with the monthly gold production strategy and to ensure it is produced and managed.
  • Deliver all mining related reports to stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Manage the mining production database.
  • Prepare daily and weekly production reports and presentations.
  • Assist the Long to Medium Term Senior Planning Engineer to do.
  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the superviso

Required Skills or Experience

Knowledge

  • A degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in mining planning.
  • Must be proficient in the use of appropriate mining software (e.g., Surpac, Datamine) for planning and optimization.
  • Must have working knowledge in geology, environmental management, and Ghana mining regulations.
  • Certification in mining safety, risk assessment, or project management will be advantage.

  • Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving license and the ability to drive in rough terrain.
