• REPORTS TO: Head of Academics

JOB PURPOSE
To teach Mathematics and ICT.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties of this position include but not limited to the following:

• Develop and deliver scheme of work and lesson plans in Mathematics and ICT that utilizes a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies and caters for the unique needs, abilities and varied learning styles of students
• Plan and facilitate Mathematics and ICT as per the school’s curricula and educational objectives
• Provide necessary supervision to students using the appropriate class management and organisational skills.
• Organize class time as per the instructional plans and address discipline issues as a mentor and/or instructor
• Establishing and enforcing rules of behaviour for students in the classroom
• Encourage and motivate students to explore learning opportunities and career paths
• Create, assign and grade various assessments for students, including tests, quizzes, essays and projects
• Work with students and offer one-on-one coaching when they need extra help or attention
• Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, co-workers and supervisors
• Create a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment
• Help students improve their self-study methods and strategies
• Prepare and mark examination papers and assignments
• Analyse and evaluate student’s progress periodically based on results of assignments, quizzes, and tests
• Attend team meetings, staff development trainings and workshops
• Support scheduled school holistic activities when directed to do so

Required Skills or Experience

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• University Degree in Basic Education, Mathematics and ICT or related field or its equivalent.
• Should have at least three (3) years of relevant teaching experience in both Cambridge IGCSE and GES Curricula.
• Should possess a Teaching certification/license
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Well-organized with excellent leadership abilities
• Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills

The following would be an advantage
✓ An ICT qualification and strong knowledge/usage with MS. Suite (word, Excel, Power Point)
✓ Experience in using any school/educational management system or automation software

Technical 

• Ability to implement teaching practices in accordance with approved educational policies 
• Knowledge of the Cambridge Curriculum and its applicable pedagogies 
• Ability to create project-based learning activities relative to both the National and Cambridge Curriculum.
• Deep understanding of the National and Cambridge Curricula educational requirements
• Ability to assess students using creative evaluation tools in line with both the National and Cambridge Curricula.
• Exceptional leadership, class management and communication skills
• Eloquence in the English Language and ability to adequately guide students express themselves in the English Language.

Managerial:

• Ability to plan, direct, control, and coordinate student’s learning activities.
• Ability to cooperatively plan lessons and team teach
• Ability to monitor the progress of students learning performance and adopt remedial strategies

• Ability to work with children and motivate them to learn
• Ability to listen to the ideas and views of others
• Ability to handle conflicts, confrontation and other delicate interpersonal situations
