Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Backend Developer to join the Aya Data Backend Development Team. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust server-side applications, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior developers and driving technical excellence within the team.
The position is full-time in Ghana.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of server-side logic, ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Architect and optimize databases for efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
• Drive technical decision-making and set best practices for backend development within the team.
• Collaborate closely with front-end developers to ensure seamless integration of back-end services.
• Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of learning and technical growth.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation.
• Ensure robust security measures are implemented across all backend systems.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
• 5+ years of experience in backend development with expertise in server-side programming languages (e.g., Python, Node.js, Go).
• In-depth knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and database optimization.
• Proficiency in version control systems, particularly Git.
• Experience with server deployment, performance optimization, and cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with API design, microservices architecture, and containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
