Job Description
The NOC Officer is responsible for real-time monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the company’s network and infrastructure systems. Working in a 24/7 operational environment, the NOC Officer ensures the stability, reliability, and performance of network and server systems. This role involves responding promptly to alerts, resolving incidents, escalating issues as necessary, and keeping detailed records to support efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Network and System Monitoring
- Conduct 24/7 monitoring of network and IT systems, including servers, routers, switches, and security systems.
- Identify and investigate alerts in real-time using network monitoring tools, ensuring immediate detection of anomalies.
Incident Response and Troubleshooting
- Respond promptly to network issues, alarms, or performance anomalies, ensuring effective troubleshooting and resolution.
- Document each incident accurately, detailing the nature of the issue, steps taken, and resolution time.
- Escalate unresolved or critical issues to the NOC Manager or relevant teams according to the escalation protocol.
Change Management Support
- Assist with scheduled network and system maintenance, upgrades, and patches, ensuring minimal impact on operations.
- Review and document changes as part of the change management process, coordinating with relevant stakeholders as needed.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate logs and records of incidents, outages, and maintenance activities for reference and audit purposes.
- Prepare regular shift and incident reports, providing insights into network performance and recurring issues.
- Ensure all documentation is updated regularly, including network diagrams, device configurations, and SOPs.
Continuous Improvement and Optimization
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and suggest ways to enhance system efficiency, network reliability, and monitoring procedures.
- Collaborate with the team to optimize alert thresholds, refine escalation procedures, and implement automation when possible.
Stakeholder Communication
- Provide timely updates to management and relevant teams on network status, outages, and planned maintenance activities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for network and system-related inquiries during assigned shifts, ensuring clear communication.
Compliance and Security
- Adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and compliance standards to ensure a secure and compliant network environment.
- Report and document any security breaches, vulnerabilities, or incidents in line with company protocols.
