Job Description

  • Reports to: Development Manager

Job Summary

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for cost estimation, budget management and contract administration, tendering. This role ensures that all materials, labor, and subcontractor costs are accurately estimated and monitored throughout the project lifecycle. The QS works closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure financial efficiency while maintaining quality and compliance with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment for construction projects.
  •  Develop and monitor project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial projections.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to evaluate project financial viability.
  • Manage the tendering process, including preparing tender documents and evaluating tenders.
  • Prepare and evaluate tender documents, including bills of quantities (BOQs) and specifications.
  • Analyze supplier and subcontractor quotes, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance.
  • Assist in negotiating contracts and procurement terms with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to validate work progress against cost plans.
  • Ensure that materials and construction quality align with project specifications.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in quantity surveying.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software (Candy, CostX, AutoCAD, MS Excel, or similar tools).
  • Experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and value engineering.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work with cost estimation software.
  • Outstanding leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team of professionals and tradespeople.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
