Job Description

  • Report to:GM - Construction
  • Direct Report: Project Managers

Job Overview

The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the construction operations of the company, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This works closely with the Development team and supervises senior project managers for roads and housing and is responsible for managing subcontractors and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the delivery of construction projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Supervise and manage senior project managers for roads and housing, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
  • Manage subcontractors, ensuring that they comply with company policies and procedures and that their work meets the required quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes, ensuring that construction projects meet the required standards.
  • Ensure that all construction projects are carried out following HSE policies and procedures and that all employees and subcontractors comply with HSE regulations.
  • Manage construction budgets, ensuring that costs are controlled and that projects are delivered within budget.
  • Provide regular reports to the General Manager for Construction, and communicate effectively with stakeholders, including project managers, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with construction projects, ensuring that mitigation strategies are in place to minimize potential impacts.
  • Ensure that all construction projects comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent are desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Strong leadership and management skills,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
