Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and teach French lessons aligned with the Cambridge curriculum and school expectations across Key Stages 3 to 5 (including IGCSE and A Level where applicable).
  • Develop lesson plans and teaching resources suited to varying proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced learners.
  • Promote appreciation of Francophone cultures through classroom activities and events.
  • Ensure comprehensive coverage of key syllabus areas.
  • Develop students' critical analysis, academic writing, and creative expression in French.
  • Prepare students thoroughly for Cambridge examinations through targeted practice and mock exams.
  • Monitor individual progress and provide differentiatied support for diverse learners.
  • Lead literary societies, writing workshops, and drama productions.
  • Create engaging and authentic language learning resources, including digital content, multimedia, and real-world materials.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives and events, including language-themed activities and clubs.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualification & Experience

  • A Bachelor's/Master's Degree in French Linguistics, Literature, Education or related field.
  • A postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience teaching Cambridge/IB French curricula.
  • Strong understanding of economic modelling and statistical analysis.
  • Familiarity with the Cambridge curriculum and assessment procedures is a significant advantage.
  • Experience using digital tools and platforms for teaching is desirable.

  • Proficiency in French with strong grammatical, spoken, and written command.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to foster critical thinking, discussion, and independent learning.
