Job Description

The General Hand is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and orderly environment within the company’s premises (surface). This role involves performing a variety of cleaning tasks, minor maintenance, and ensuring a safe and hygienic workplace for employee’s visitors and clients.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all areas of the faculty.
  • Dust and wipe furniture, fixtures, and surfaces
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors and fixtures
  • Empty trash bins and replace liners; dispose of waste in designated areas.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and doors as needed.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, restroom amenities, and other consumables (e.g. soap, paper towels, toilet paper)
  • Notify the supervisor when supplies are low.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
  • Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or repairs needs to the supervisor
  • Sweep walkways and remove debris from entrances
  • Strip, wax, and polish floors as required
  • Assist with deep cleaning tasks such as cleaning vents, blinds and hard-to reach areas.
  • Clean and disinfect high -touch areas such as door handles, light switches and scanning buttons
  • Supports facility, setup or clean-up for events meeting or relocations.
  • Perform additional cleaning tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A minimum off Senior High School Certificate or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a cleaner, or in a similar role is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe usage.
  • Physical strength to perform cleaning tasks, including walking, lifting moderately heavy objects, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to details and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Good time management skills to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses and able to drive manual vehicle
  • Must have a valid community validation form
