Job Description

A nipper in a mining firm plays a versatile and essential role, often considered an entry-level position

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist and support other crew members by delivering essential supplies and tools to various locations within the mine.
  • Carry out a pre-start checks before operating LV machines.
  • Help maintain and organize equipment, ensuring everything is in good working order.
  • Ensure effective housekeeping, keep the work site clean and organized, which is crucial for safety and efficiency.
  • Nippers often assist in transporting the crew to and from different work areas within the mine.
  • Help with setting up and rigging drilling equipment, such as jumbos.
  • They perform a variety of general tasks as needed, making them the "jack of all trades" in the mining environment.
  • Perform additional cleaning tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A minimum off Senior High School Certificate or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a cleaner, or in a similar role is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe usage.
  • Physical strength to perform cleaning tasks, including walking, lifting moderately heavy objects, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to details and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Good time management skills to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses and able to drive manual vehicle
  • Must have a valid community validation form
